Ask a Question

A beautiful pair of grey and blue painted dining chairs 'à dossier plat' by master furniture maker Jean-Baptiste Lelarge III (Maître le 1er février 1775). With the frames and fabric in great condition, the chairs would make a wonderful addition to any dining room or entrance hall.

Based on Rue de Cléry, Jean-Baptiste succeeded his father to become one of the most sought-after ébeniste of the end of the 18th century. He quickly acquired a great reputation amongst the French nobility and the Portuguese Royal Family. However, he never produced furniture for Louis XVI. Jean-Baptiste Lelarge III continued his production throughout the revolution and until his death in 1802. He is particularly well-known for the finesse of his work as well as the elegance of his creations.

His chairs are now found in many museums such as the Chateau de Versailles, the Wallace Collection, the Louvre, and the Musee Nissim-de-Camondo
